So it's the New Year. Joy. I have always been amazed at why people need definative points to make decisions about life. "This birthday I'll stop smoking, this New Years, I am going to start my diet". It's almost as pathetic as deciding Christmas is the day when everyone should be nice to each other. What the fuck is wrong with being nice the other 364 days of the year? If you think people deserve presents for being special in your life, buy them ones anytime you feel like it. Why wait for a day invented only a few hundred years ago buy a bunch of old white dudes who weren't getting any?

The point, well, be nice to people all the time, (expect stupid people), (well people who aren't stupid, but who decide not to think, that kind of stupid. Mock those people openly). Anyway, be nice to people, make changes in your life when you feel ready, whe you feel those changes need to be made. Run away from the flock, avoid the herd, think for yourself, you might even be surprised how great your own mind is, once it's uncluttered by the expectations of others.

I, myself, well I've been inspired by a particularly bad article in my local rag. A bucket list. Theirs was, well, disgracfully pathetic to say the least. But I will attempt a short list of things to to this year. In no particular order.

1. Go back to university.
2. Convince my beloved to become engaged to me.
3. Work the poultary section of the farm into a profit making venture.
4. Get down to 110kgs. A mere 23kg lighter. 1/2 a kg a week, surely an obtainable goal.
5. Take another 1000 photgraphs I will be proud of.
6. Build a decent and dependable mental recipe book.
7. See at least one live band every month.
8. Learn at least one new piece of music on guitar and piano every month.
9. Give up the fags.

There, doesn't seem too ambitious, or to ego driven. Does it? I want to be a better partner for my lover, a more fulfilled, and successful person for her to be proud of. So maybe a little ego driven. It wouldn't be me without it.

Regardless, have a splendid New Year, enjoy it, the world is ugly and beautiful, work on fixing the ugly spots, and sit and enjoy the beauty.
